This is Married Life

Monday was our one month anniversary. To celebrate, we spent Sunday working on the house. How married of us, huh?

After cleaning the inside, I went to the backyard to watch Clay mow. What? He's ridiculously good looking and it was almost 100p. Sweaty, handsome man with no shirt? You'd watch too. :) Somehow my gawking evolved into me going to pick up an electric hedge trimmer. Our shears are terrible and rusty and well, as I mentioned in my post about Roxie, we need power! *Tim Taylor grunt*

As I was trying to determine which trimmer he wanted earlier, Clay called and said he was parking and we also needed a wheelbarrow. This turned into an all-out shopping spree for yard things. We busted our booties in the hot, hot sun, but our yard looks PHENOMENAL. Curb appeal is huge since we're preparing to put the house on the market.

I planted flowers a few months ago. A week later, our sprinkler head blew and we had to dig up the garden to find the main cutoff for the sprinkler system. Hubby let me get new flowers, even though he hates them. I tried to do pink and yellow but had to settle for a "deeper" color. He's so racist against pink. If you notice, I attempted to keep one of the remaining flowers- poor little hot pink guy is barely hanging on.

Since someone killed one of our solar lights with the weedeater, we replaced it and got a few more.

I did get some new pink flowers for the pot on the table/fire pit on the back patio. I got these while I was at the grocery store, before the outside renovation started, thus no racism from hubby.

I got to pick out some new lanterns for the backyard. They're hanging on shepherd hooks and have a space for a votive. They're super cute.

Aaaand, just to share, I love our weeping willow. Clay hates it (only because he has to mow under it) but it's my favorite part of the yard.

This is totally unrelated, but I visited with my grandparents on Saturday. My grandmother gave me all of her china. While I was packing it up, she was telling me about the two types of royalty she's found while doing our family tree. She told me her great uncle had been a guard when Queen Elizabeth was sworn in and received the shot glass below during the coronation. Guess who now owns it? I love that she is so into genealogy- we've learned so much about our family and it makes all the trinkets she has so much more fun.
