It seems unreal that 11 years have passed since I roamed the halls of CHS. In that time, I've become an adult. I've gone to college, married the love of my life, given birth to the most precious baby in existence. I own a home and my own car; I have a credit card, utility bills and a full-time job.
How in the world did that happen? It seems like just yesterday that I met Clay and it couldn't have been more than 2 years since I gathered with my classmates and tossed my cap in the air.
My mom and Grandmama were right (do you see a theme here??): our lives really do fly by. Seven weeks ago, Bryson made his debut into the world.
The last seven weeks have been full of adventure for our little family. While we're discovering a new birthmark on the back of Bryson's head and trying to decipher what his cries mean, he is discovering a whole new world.
Two weeks ago, he has discovered that the colorful toys hanging on his play mat and car seat aren't just for looks; he can touch them too!
He has begun to notice things around the house. His eyes affix on the ceiling fan, the picture above the couch and the sconces above our bed often and and if he's in his swing, instead of falling asleep, he watches the colorful mobile in amazement.
As I began writing this (you know, because a blog post can easily take a week now), Bryson was in his crib for the first time. As tired as I was that first night, I laid in bed, wide awake, listening for the first whimper signaling that my little boy needed his mommy. The monitor kicked on occasionally to reveal sounds of deep sleep and I'm not ashamed to admit I went running a few times. My big boy was sound asleep in his big boy bed and his mommy missed him!
In the last 48 hours, he has started smiling a lot! Last night, Clay held him close and talked to him for awhile. He kept a smile on his face the whole time. Baby smiles are cute, but this kid's melts my heart.
Over the course of the last seven weeks, I have fallen in love many times over with my little boy. He is the most precious thing and one of the two best things that has ever happened to me. He is growing so much, so quickly, and while I love the innocence of this age, I am excited to see and experience the milestones ahead (especially sleeping through the night- ha). At the rate we're going now, he'll be tossing his own cap in the air entirely too soon. Until then, I'm savoring every moment.
And now, a photo dump. It'd be selfish to keep the cuteness to myself.

life can go by so so quickly and it is important to savor every moment. (:
ReplyDeleteThank you for that reminder!
Goodness... he is just so precious!!!
Man, he is one cute little man! Life does fly by, so make sure you record all the moments, so you don't forget them. I was so good with baby #1, now with baby #4, I am terrible and sad I am forgetting them. He is precious!
