Height: As of 8/13/12, 23 3/8 inches.
Eating Habits: You consistently eats 4 ounces and occasionally, want a little more. We added rice cereal to your last bottle of the night a few weeks ago because you wasn't satisfied on milk alone. This week, you were insatiable again, so I mixed your cereal with mommy milk and fed it to you with a spoon hoping that since it was thicker, it would keep you full a bit longer. It was a hit!
Accomplishments: You are able to hold his head up all by yourself and are a natural at eating off a spoon. You have recently discovered his hands and suck on them a lot, especially the thumb and forefinger. I hope it's temporary so we aren't fighting that battle in a few years.
Favorite Things: Bath time is your favorite activity now. I wish I could post the videos I have- the tub is usually emptied of water and mommy is soaked by the time you get out.
You have been playing on your Little Einstein play mat, but last week I introduced one that has a piano you can kick at the end of it and you love it. Move over Beethoven!
You also loves your puppies. If they get close enough, you occasionally reach out and touch them. They love you and always want to have tummy time with you. When I get up with you at night, Jenna always comes too.
Not so Favorite Things: You still hate putting on lotion and act like it is just going to kill you.
You're getting a little better about being swaddled, but still fight against it. You prefer to have your hands by your face rather than stuck by your sides.
We are starting to work on getting you in a routine, loosely following the Baby Wise structure. Some of the things in the book are silly and don't fit your personality or preferences, but reading it has made me more conscious of the layout of your day. Until recently, you haven't wanted to nap. I am putting you in his crib 30-45 minutes after each feeding and basically forcing you to nap. You're getting better at soothing yourself to sleep and because you're sleeping, you aren't as fussy at night. You're still waking up once at night, but I'm sooo hoping some structure to your day will help you sleep through the night soon. It won't be fun to be up at 2:00 or 3:00 and have to get up at 5:00 to get ready for work.
Last month, we took our first trip to Cullman. We went to the nursing home so you could meet your great great grandmother, Maw Maw Hill.
My dad and grandmother came to the nursing home too, so we could use the opportunity to take a picture of 5 generations of the Drinkard family. The first time we ever did that was when I was little, so it was pretty cool to be able to do it with you also.
Last week, we took our first trip to Fayette for your great great aunt's 90th birthday party. She didn't hold you long, so I wasn't able to get a picture. You were so well-behaved and had fun watching your cousins play and sleeping on Nana's shoulder. I think your cousin Will likes you a little. :)
You also got to meet your Granddaddy when he came down from North Carolina. He is so proud of you! I hope that having you around will convince him to move back to Alabama. :)
Because you like the tub so much, I thought you might like to swim. Since you aren't immunized yet, I didn't want to put you in the community pool, so I got out your (ok, it was Jenna's originally) pool, let the water warm up, and put your float in. You didn't move a muscle, but it looked like you liked it. Either way, you looked cool!
